At Unqork’s annual conference, Jason Emery, Chief Product Officer at Securrency, discusses his company’s partnership to support sophisticated use cases for private asset customers. 

“Securrency and and Unqork have delivered a platform that’s capable of tokenizing both private market securities as well as other assets and performing functions like onboarding asset managers and investors, and the ability to transact on the top tier-one blockchains in the world,” said Emery.

Unqork’s advanced workflow capabilities were key to helping Securrency serve its customers. 

“Unqork really helps us customize the workflows that we need to provide to our customers and gives us the ability to manage security, manage third-party integrations, and do the kinds of things that our customers are demanding,” he explained. 

At Unqork’s annual conference, Guddu Mony, Head of Process Engineering, Asset and Wealth Management, at JPMorgan Chase, shared his experience in accelerating solution delivery with Unqork’s Codeless as a Service (CaaS) platform. 

“It’s really important to have technologies that can run at that same scale and pace where you can respond to demand and be able to quickly develop and iterate solutions in that very agile manner and respond to the market,” said Mony. “Unqork helps us to innovate and tackle some of those new demand coming in that we’re seeing in the market.” 

Enabling citizen developers is another reason his team adopted Unqork’s CaaS platform. 

“One of the key challenges we’re looking to address with Unqork is being able to open that up to citizen developers to really tackle some of that capacity, and of being able to self-serve,” said Mony. 

At Unqork’s annual conference, Craig Laskowski, Head of Processes Solutions at State Street, talked about the ways Unqork’s codeless platform is powering rapid delivery of new solutions to support the goals of its investors across the investment life cycle.

“I’m on the business side, so I’m always looking to push the technology teams to go faster and do more,” said Laskowski. “The idea that we can speed up time to delivery, that I can request more features and get those delivered to me faster, and ultimately it to our clients and our end users faster—that’s really exciting.”

He particularly appreciates the ease of integrations with Unqork, as well as the ability to delivery branded experiences at scale. 

“Unqork has allowed us test new visions of what a website or feature could be faster and bring those to market faster. And a lot of that’s been possible because of Unqork’s ability to integrate,” Laskowski said. 

“And I really like the look and feel of the UI. It’s something that I can present to an end user, and that’s important to me—that clients see something that really looks like it’s top level,” he added. 

At Unqork’s annual conference. Tyler Danielson, CTO at FOXO, talked about the ways Unqork’s codeless platform is powering FOXO’s highly innovative, digital-first approach to life insurance. 

With Unqork, Danielson and his team were able to bring an entirely new insurance business to market in less than six months.

“I had build an entire life insurance company, and I needed to do it fast,” said Danielson. “We were able to build out the entire thing with using Unqork, with full features too—not just an MVP.”

When looking for a solution, Danielson said he had three requirements for a development platform: quality, adaptability, and  speed to market. “With Unqork, we were able to do all three together,” Danielson added. 

We spoke with Ed Keenan, Vice President at Brookfield, about the value Unqork’s Codeless as a Service platform is bringing to the investment giant. 

“On Unqork, you can do things very, very fast, deploy in a limited capacity where you’re maybe only focused on one use case, and then deploy another and build on top of it,” said Keenan. 

“The iterative and quick and nimble nature of Unqork is really what did it for us,” he added. 

We spoke with Taylor Fay, Product Management Lead at FOXO, about the ways Unqork’s codeless platform is powering FOXO’s highly innovative, digital-first approach to life insurance.

“Unqork allows us to bring a proof of concept to the rest of the team more quickly, so we can test an idea and determine if we’re moving in the right direction or not, and then improve upon that,” Fay said. 

“Unqork brings the product people like myself closer to the technologists, so that we can be truly operating in a more cross-functional environment,” Fay added. “And even our product owners start to dabble in building in Unqork.”

Volatile conditions require more data and insights

In order to respond to serious challenges like climate change and inflation, insurers need more data and insights to ensure that they are taking on the right level of risk. Unqork is helping them do just that. 

“Where Unqork is being impactful for us is we need to collect more data on our exposures than we do right now,” says Skarinka. 

Vivint has also been able to respond quickly to rapidly evolving challenges, thanks to the way CaaS accelerates development  

“We have a relatively small team,” said Mason. “But we’re able to really push and get a lot done quickly with Unqork.” 

Happier, more productive underwriters

By connecting, automating, and digitizing processes, CaaS is also helping P&C insurers make the most of underwriting talent, critical at a time when such talent is in short supply. 

“We’re widening our funnel at the top, and then agents are submitting more to us,” said Starinka. “But then it’s also narrowing the funnel on the bottom, so our underwriters are focusing much more on the accounts that matter.” 

“We’ve found this tool has created a much higher sense of ownership among our team and removed a lot of administrative burden,” he adds. “I think they’ve seen a higher retention on our team because what they do on a day-to-day basis.” 

At Unqork Create 2022, Unqork’s Chandresh Kothari welcomed two leaders from insurance innovator FOXO—Tyler Danielson, CTO, and Taylor Fay, Product Management Lead—to discuss the ways the insurer uses Unqork’s Codeless-as-a-Service to bring high-quality, complex, and flexible products to market quickly. 

“We actually built majority of the life insurance platform, which includes the policy administration and even some reinsurance administration, in about six months,” said Danielson. 

“We wanted to focus on our core workflows for users and make sure that we could get those automated and fully digital quickly,” added Fay. “Unqork was able to make that possible for us.” 

Rapidly increasing developer productivity

Very quickly Danielson was able to hire and train a team to start working on Unqork. And they were building sophisticated applications at speed within weeks.

“Our Unqork developers just out of bootcamp were doing stuff that I as a developer couldn’t do in half the time. It was really unbelievable,” said Danielson. “And they were extremely proud of the work they were doing, and the culture just built from there. So, it was really powerful.” 

“With one team we built an entire life insurance platform—policy, administration dashboard for the customers, the application, and the quoting—all in about six months,” added Danielson. “That’s pretty amazing to me—and faster than I could have ever done in any other tool, including React, even if I had all senior folks.”

Aligning business and tech teams

Because the Unqork platform is so intuitive, it also helped tech and business teams collaborate more effectively, which further accelerated development and also ensure that solutions met the needs of customers and the business. 

“With Unqork, our product managers are better able to understand the development process on a sprint by sprint basis and even watch or be involved in that process,” said Fay. “Unqork gets us closer to like a truly cross-functional team. And I think that’s really powerful, especially when you’re in the concept phase of a project.” 

In fact, product managers have actually gotten hands-on and learned their way around the Unqork platform themselves. 

“We had all of our PMs do the Unqork training too, and that allowed them to understand the effort that was going into a lot of it,” explained Danielson. “So, then when the developers would come in and say, ‘Hey, this is what it’s gonna take,’ there was clarity there on what that meant.” 

“We were able to leverage Unqork for those traditionally difficult things in insurance that other systems don’t have, to be honest,” he added.
